What Is Nitronox?

Nitronox is a self-administered system that delivers a gentle mix of nitrous oxide (commonly known as laughing gas) and oxygen. It’s used to ease discomfort and calm nerves during procedures like:

  • Egg retrievals
  • Intrauterine insemination (IUI)
  • Hysterosalpingograms (HSG)
  • Endometrial biopsies
  • Other in-office procedures

Patients remain fully conscious, in control, and able to communicate throughout. Relief begins within seconds and wears off quickly, with no need for a designated driver or recovery downtime.

What to Expect

Before your procedure, a nurse will show you how to use the Nitronox device. You’ll hold the mouthpiece yourself and can breathe in the gas mixture as needed. The effects are felt within seconds and wear off minutes after stopping. You’ll feel calm, more relaxed, and better able to focus on your fertility journey.
